The Roanoke City Fire Department and EMS were all fired up on Saturday!
It was a sea of pink at the Roanoke Civic Center.
The event was called "Fired up for a Cure"
It was for breast cancer and other cancers.
All of this was put together in the past four months.
There was a 5k and 10k race as well as karaoke, ice skating and lots of vendors.
It benefits two organizations.
Half will go to Every Women's Life which helps uninsured and under-insured women get routine care.
"And American Cancer Society. We chose to give to all relays for life instead of just breast cancer. Roanoke City Fire/EMS has had several of their own lost to cancer in the last year so we wanted to honor them by giving to all cancer," said Brandie Bailey, the event organizer.
The event raised about $5,000.

People should never forget that real health depends how well you take care of yourself and not what health insurance you carry but I agree health insurance is important for every one. Search "Penny Health" or online for dollar a day insurance plans.
