A school bus and car collided in Galax on Thursday afternoon, injuring one student and the driver of the car.
It happened around 3:30 p.m. on Middleton Street in Galax.
Eight students were on the bus.
One had to be taken to the hospital.
That child has been released from the hospital.
No word on the driver's injuries.

Spokespersons for Galax Police Chief Rick Clark that Galax Police were dispatched to a automobile accident on Feb. 2, 2012 involving a school bus. Galax Police, Galax Volunteer Fire Department and Galax Grayson were dispatched to the scene of the accident at 3:33PM. The initial call reported that the driver of a passenger car was entrapped in his vehicle.
The investigation of the accident revealed that a 2008 Kia driven by Ruben Morris Christman (42) of Galax struck a 2000 International School Bus driven by William Mathieu (58) of Galax.
Christman was traveling east on Middleton Street when he struck the bus head on. Christman was removed from his vehicle by fire department members and transported to Twin County Regional Hospital with visible injuries to his head and face. A student on the bus was also transported by Galax Grayson EMS after the child complained of chest pain.
There were eight students on the bus at the time of the accident, they were cared for and taken home by Galax City School Personnel.
Christman was charged with reckless driving failure to drive to the right of the center of the road.
