There's a new address for downtown living in Lynchburg.

Construction is almost finished on a new set of loft apartments on Washington Street.

Tony West spent the last 10 months renovating an old industrial building near the Riverfront.

The new lofts have hardwood floors, granite counter tops, and plenty of windows.

West's building joins a handful of other historic properties downtown that have been converted to housing in the last five years.

"So many people are starting to move downtown and there seems to be a great need for (lofts)," said West.  "We decided to do 13 lofts and a commercial restaurant space in the basement."

Rent prices at the new lofts start at $650 per-month for a one room efficiency.

West hopes to have tenants living in his building by December.  After that he plans to construct more apartments at another property on Church Street.
