Larry Hambric's family has always worshiped at Christ United Methodist Church in Convington. His father helped build it. Now a blue tarp is a constant reminder of the damage cause by the recent wind storm, happened. The man called in to fix it, Randy Phillips of S.G. Young Contracting,  showed us around. “It was built with true lumber. So this is actually true 2x 6's and for all the bricks to actually come down and to destroy and damage and crack and break through true 2x6 floor joists, that's just a large amount of weight,” he said.

This is the worst storm damage he's seen in Alleghany County. Still, worshippers say their faith in God is stronger than any winds and they shall not be moved. In fact, the storm could be a blessing in disguise. “I think the church is going to be stronger; I mean I really do. Sunday when we had service, we had as many as we normally have so I think we're going to be as strong if not stronger than we were before this happened,” said church member Larry Hambric.
