The brush fire on Potts Mountain in Craig County is 80 percent contained, according to the U.S. Forest Service.

The fire has burned 839 acres. Firefighters hope to have it contained by the end of Wednesday.

The fire was first reported Sunday in the small community of Maggie.

About 50 firefighters are working the fire.

Firefighters say the overnight rain has helped them get the upper hand on a brush fire in Craig County.

The fire is now 50 percent contained, and firefighters hope to have the fire put out by the end of the day.

The fire has burned more than 750 acres. The fire was discovered Sunday about two miles from the Maggie community of Craig County.

There are 78 firefighters are on scene, with three bulldozers, and seven fire engines. A helicopter assigned to the fire Monday will be released early Tuesday afternoon.
