UPDATE: Villa Heights Recreation Center fire ruled accidental

The fire at the old Villa Heights Recreation Center on Clifton Street has been ruled accidental by the fire marshal's office.

Investigators believe the fire was electrical in nature.  Damage estimates are still pending.

Flames did extensive damage to the old Villa Heights Recreation Center on Clifton Street.

No one was inside when the fire started.  In fact, the building's been closed for the last few years and has been fore sale.

No firefighters were hurt.

Firefighters are on the scene of a fire at the Villa Heights Recreation Center in Roanoke.

Fire crews fighting the fire had to evacuate and are now trying to save the building from the outside.

The center has been closed for several years and was up for sale.  It was vacant at the time of the fire, according to the fire department.
