Crime is decreasing in Danville.
City police released last year's crime statistics that show a dip in murders not seen since two decades ago.
The announcement came this week as police unveiled preliminary crime statistics from 2012.
Murder, robbery and car theft all decreased last year compared to 2011.
But there were more arsons, larcenies and rapes.
"We don't want crime to occur period. We hope to continue with that and we always welcome the community's involvement. We can't accomplish anything without the community's help," said Captain Matt Carter with the Danville Police Department.
There were three murders last year.
The last time there were that few murders in the city was in 1990 and 1981.
