The next 60 days will be critical for the new Cave Spring Middle School Project in Roanoke County.
Administrators say the nearly $27,000,000 school is about 25% complete.
Construction crews are currently putting up the steel and are trying to get the outer perimeter done before the end of January.
They're working six days a week with the hope construction will be finished by the beginning of next school year.
Administrators realize completing the project in one year will be tight, especially if we have a harsh winter.
Marty Misicko, Construction Director for Roanoke County Schools, told News 7, "I think the school board has been realistic that it will be done next fall. Whether it's going to be ready for the beginning of school or not is going to depend on the weather. We really don't want to rush something. We want it to be done correctly. We will be done next fall. It's just a matter whether it will be the first day of school or not."
Cave Spring Middle School students are spending the year either at Hidden Valley Middle or Cave Spring High School.
