Local business owners inside Danville Mall are being evicted after mall owners say it's time for a new image.
The mall, formerly Piedmont Mall, is undergoing a transformation including a name change and updates on the inside.
Nine small businesses inside are part of that change.
They were given a few weeks up to a month to leave the mall.
Some businesses have been in the mall for more than 20 years.
Frequent customers aren't happy.
"I'm devastated. Because it's like they're kicking everybody out of their stores, they're not even giving them the option to remodel or relocate them somewhere else in the mall while they remodel their stores. They're just kicking everybody out,"said Stephanie Morgan, a mall customer.
Store owners say the move is making them lose business.
Hull Storey Gibson, the Georgia based company that owns the mall, want national chain stores to open in their place.
They say that will bring in more customers.
