From Southern Virginia to the Ed Sullivan theater. Friday night a Danville native will perform on the Late Show with David Letterman.
Matthew Compton is the drummer in the band Electric Guest based in Las Angeles.
They've toured the world and can now add a national television show to the list.
This isn't Compton's first time in the spotlight.
He's helped write music for"Saturday Night Live,""The Family Guy" and the movie "MacGruber."
His parents still live in Danville and say Friday night's appearance won't be the most exciting part of their weekend.
"They're playing tomorrow night in DC, and Monday night in Atlanta so they're actually going to come here and spend the night with us Sunday night, so needless to say that the most exciting part for me is to have him home for a few days," said Patsi Compton, Matthew's mother.
You can see Compton on David Letterman Friday after WDBJ7 at 11.
