Danville Police looking for man who apparently was trying to lure kids into his car with candy

Danville police are warning parents about a man offering children candy to lure them into his vehicle.

Residents on Campbell Street and Noble Avenue reported seeing the man Tuesday night.  They described his vehicle as a blue Chevrolet Silverado with a camper shell. It had Virginia license plates with the letters C-A-R.

Witnesses say he's a white man with some facial hair and wore a ball cap and glasses.

Shortly before 9:00 pm yesterday evening Danville Police responded to the area of Campbell Street and Noble Avenue for a report of a man in a truck offering candy to neighborhood children in an attempt to get them into the vehicle.

The suspect was described as a white male with a slight amount of facial hair and wearing a ball cap and eyeglasses. The truck was described as possibly being a blue Chevrolet Silverado, camper shell on the back, with Virginia customized plates containing the letters CAR.
