The YMCA in Danville is finally getting a new home the community says it deserves.
Construction will begin on the new facility this December and will be completed by 2013.
Staff announced the site of the new building this afternoon. It will sit near the old Long Mill on six acres, four of which were donated by the River Partnership.
The YMCA had to raise 13 million dollars. The most recent donation was over 250 thousand for a child car center.
Staff say it's time for a new look.
"Our facility we have now is over fourty years old we've out grown it, it's definitely out dated and the community deserves a new YMCA with new recreation and a place for families to go," said Danville YMCA CEO Sarah Folmar.
The walls won't be the only new addition for the Y. Staff say members can expect new exercise equipment and an even bigger pool.
