Daughter of retired Roanoke judge murdered in Baltimore

33-year-old Alysia Strickland is the daughter of Diane Strickland, a retired judge, and Art Strickland, an area attorney. Another man was also found dead in a burning car.

The daughter of a retired Roanoke judge was murdered in Baltimore this weekend, according to a news release from the family.

The Baltimore Sun reports that Alysia Strickland, 33, and Taewon Tuck, 34, were found dead in a burning car in West Baltimore early Friday morning. Both had gunshot wounds to the head, according to the Baltimore Sun. Click here to read the Baltimore Sun’s story.

Alysia Strickland was the daughter of Art and Diane Strickland, the family confirmed in a news release. Diane Strickland is a well-known retired judge in the Roanoke Valley.She served on the Virginia Tech Shootings Review Panel. Art Strickland is a Roanoke attorney.

“It is with deep regret and sadness that we confirm that our beautiful 33 year old daughter, Alysia Nicole Strickland, was murdered in Baltimore this past weekend. No further details are available at this time. We greatly appreciate your thoughts and prayers. Please allow us time to privately process our grief as a family,” the family's statement said.

WJZ in Baltimore has confirmed that Strickland was a graduate student at Morgan State University. She was in the school's architecture program, according to WJZ.
