Deadline is nearing for Medicare enrollment

Time is running out for area seniors trying to sign up for Medicare.

The Local Office on Aging is helping seniors make sure they've made the right allowances on Medicare Part D so they'll be able to cover their prescriptions.

Medicare also announced there will be slight increases on premiums for parts A and B, which cover hospitals and doctors visits.

"The part B premium is going up 5-dollars a month. It's going up from 99.90 to 104.90, so that's a 5.1 percent increase -it's not huge and it's much better than I expected it to be, I'm glad it was only 5-dollars," says Shannon Abell, Director of Senior Services.

The deadline to make your Medicare selections is by midnight on December 7th.
