MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Va.—
A detour will be put into effect Sunday on Interstate 81 South in Montgomery County as part of a road construction project.
Starting at 9 p.m. Sunday, southbound traffic will be detoured at the Dixie Caverns exit (132), onto Route 11/460, and back onto I-81 at the Christiansburg exit (118).
The detour is being put in place so crews can remove bridges on Route 641 (Den Hill Road) and Route 636 (Friendship Road).
The detours are expected to be in place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m., through Dec. 13.
This work is part of a truck climbing project between mile markers 120 and 125. The project is expected to be finished next November.
