Several customers of the Denny’s restaurant in Salem had their credit card information stolen, the Salem Police Department says.

On July 6, investigators started receiving formal complaints from a number of banks saying that their customers had been charged with fraudulent transactions.

An investigation revealed that those customers had all visited the Denny’s on West Main Street in Salem.

Investigators say the credit card numbers were stolen electronically, and not by a Denny’s employee.

If you have visited the Denny’s in Salem between February and June 2012 and have discovered fraudulent account charges, you are asked to contact your financial institution.

According to a news release, the Denny’s franchise, RREMC LLC, is working with detectives.
