Since 1993, there have been 66 NCAA tournaments right here in Salem.

The crowds cheered as Roanoke College played Tufts University earlier this evening.

Local fans had a lot to celebrate because Roanoke won with a score of 1 to zero.

Behind the scenes, NCAA officials say it's a well run championship and that's why it keeps coming back to Salem.

Plus it's an area where families and students from other schools get a warm welcome.

Besides softball, division three basketball and football championships have been played in Salem.
