Downtown Roanoke makes room for electric vehicles

Electric cars are rare in this area but downtown Roanoke is making room for these "green" vehicles.

The first electric car charging station has been installed in Roanoke.

It's in front of the Virginia Transportation Museum on Norfolk Avenue.

When the station is finished, it will accept credit cards for payment.

It does take time to fill an empty vehicle battery.

The station needs four to six hours to fully charge a battery.
