Driver, two students injured in Augusta County bus accident

A driver and two students are being treated for non-life threatening injuries after a school bus collided with another vehicle in Augusta County.

Virginia State Police say the accident occurred Wednesday morning in the 1100 block of Lee Jackson Highway/Route 11.

State police say the bus pulled in front of Jeep Grand Cherokee as the driver was turning around to travel north. The Jeep Grand Cherokee hit the bus in the side.

State police charged the bus driver, 61-year-old Bruce K. Pugh of Staunton, with failure to yield the right of way.

The other driver, 53-year-old Ann S. Schooley of Staunton, wasn't injured.

The bus driver and the injured students were taken to a local hospital.

About 30 elementary and middle school students were on the bus.
