It's been three months since the 'derecho' slammed our area, knocking down hundreds of thousands of trees.

In Blacksburg, the town's still trying to get rid of nearly 3 thousand tons of debris that's been collected since the freak storm hit in late June. All that debris is sitting at the Virginia Tech Landfill" off Prices Fork Road.

The town says it has an agreement with a contractor to grind it all into mulch, then haul it to a power plant, where it's burned as an alternative fuel source.
The grinding process will continue until next month.
