All different faces, ages and walks of life are on display in an upcoming exhibit - "Faces of Roanoke."

For the last year, photographer Brett Winter Lemon has been taking pictures of people in the Star City.

Unlike a typical photo-shoot, he only snaps a few shots of his subjects in black and white.

The idea, to show how these faces can come together and make a difference.

"Ideas are very easy to come by, you just have to do it. It's not complicated to take pictures of the people of Roanoke, but I think it's made a great impact. I've learned a lot," explains Lemon.

A community group called CityWorks is backing the project.

Faces of Roanoke will be featured in an upcoming event called, CityWorks (X)po at the end of this month in the market building.

The photographer would eventually like to use the pictures to create a book with the proceeds benefiting downtown.
