He was a panther on the football field but his life was cut short at the age of 19. Tonight, Ferrum College is mourning the loss of a student and football player. Zavier Stringfellow was found stabbed to death in northern Virginia late Friday. His body was found behind the wheel of a minivan that had crashed into a barrier at the end of a service road. Tonight he is being remembered for his positive attitude, great personality and love for life. Stringfellow was known as "String" by his coaches and teammates. The Manassas native earned all-star honors in high school. He will be missed by his teammates.
“He had such a good mom--definitely cared about him-- definitely wanted to see him in school. And I just can't imagine losing a son. -I have two boys myself. When I got the call, that was the first thing I thought about,” said Head Coach David Harper.
Zavier’s funeral will take place Saturday. Meanwhile 22-year-old Johnny Bonilla has been arrested in connection with Stringfellow's death.
