We now know what caused this house fire in Roanoke.
Someone left something cooking on the stove.
The home was badly damaged.

Roanoke City firefighters remain on scene of a house fire on Hanover Avenue NW.
The City says crews were called to the home at about 6:20pm Wednesday.
The home sustained extensive damage, but crews are still on scene putting out hot spots.
A Roanoke City Fire Department spokesperson tells us the home was occupied at the time the fire started. One person suffered a minor burn.
Investigators haven't determined what caused the fire just yet.
The fire department wants to remind folks, as a rule of thumb, it's a good time of the year to check to make sure your smoke detector is working properly.
