Firefighters get special training in Roanoke

Fire unions across the area paid to have a specialist come and speak to firefighters from Galax to Danville.

Roanoke County training chief Rodney Ferguson tells WDBJ7 this is the 6th year for the program.

He tells us this training is meant to keep firefighters as educated as possible to improve their craft.

"These are folks that protect their communities.  They have a commitment, they have a standard that they want to make sure they uphold.  That we bring the citizens the best we have each and every day," said Ferguson.
