Every year People magazine releases its "50 Most Beautiful People" issue. The pages are filled with pictures of actors, singers, and models. But this year's issue also includes a woman from Floyd.
Anna McClure's picture is the first one in a section called "Real Beauty at Any Age."
She's 20, lives in Floyd, and beat out 15,000 people to make the issue.
"I was just shocked," says McClure, "I had no idea that it was going to be in there. So it's exciting."
Since the issue went on sale last month McClure has heard from a lot of people.
"I've had people blowing up my Facebook saying 'congratulations we saw your picture'," says McClure.
Her family runs a retreat center in Floyd called Spirit Wind Ministries. She helps out around the house. She never expected to be in a national magazine.
"My sister actually submitted the photo," says McClure, "She's always looking on People.com and just happened to see the contest so she submitted my photo."
"She's beautiful and I just thought it would be a good example of real beauty," says Rebekah McClure.
While Anna McClure is excited about the honor she believes real beauty is on the inside.
"The thing that I put in the magazine for beauty was I wanted to be all about inward beauty instead of all the girls that were talking about all the different hair products they used and things like that," says McClure.
McClure bought just one issue of People magazine. It's a neat experience but her focus is on her career which is behind the camera. She plans to pursue cinematography and next month she'll head to Minnesota for an internship.
