Former Roanoke man gets federal prison time on child porn charges

A former Roanoke man has been sentenced to federal prison time on child pornography charges.

52-year-old Paul Aragon pled guilty Monday in U.S. District Court in Roanoke to one count of receiving or distributing child pornography. He was sentenced to a 77-month federal prison sentence, and a lifetime of supervised release.

Agents raided Aragon’s Roanoke home on May 19, 2011 and seized a computer, 443 DVDs, and several child-sized dolls. An investigation revealed 2,500 images of child pornography on those items, according to investigators. At the time of the raid, Aragon admitted to downloading child pornography.

Aragon also admitted to purchasing a membership to a website that distributed pictures of children performing sexual acts.

“Mr. Aragon abused numerous innocent children when he obtained and transferred these disgusting images,” United States Attorney Timothy J. Heaphy wrote in a news release.
