how about only paying for the channels you watch, should not be forced to pay for something you dont watch, someone needs to pass a bill for that ,so the greed will stop....
As someone working in the telecommunications industry, the greed in these negotiations (regardless of what anyone tells you) is always on the side of the broadcasting company, not the cable company. For example, in this situation, FOX wanted to raise their rates (for a free broadcast by the way) by absured amounts. They felt that because more people watch their channel than ESPN, they deserved to charge cable companies, per customer, to re-broadcast their signal. Think about that...FOX, ABC, CBS, NBC, etc, etc, wants to charge cable companies high amounts of money to provide their customers with a free signal.
Is there programming worth raising their rates from $0.10 per customer to $4.00 per customer? No channel is worth it. So, the next time this happens with your cable company (and it will every couple of years) remember to question your favorites channel intentions. Of when your favorite sports channel signs a multi-million dollar deal to broadcasting rights for a particular sport, think about who is really paying for that deal...because it isnt the broadcasting company or the cable company...it is you. because when they raise rates, it is to raise money to payout that deal.
HOW is this "Breaking News?" Most of us don't care and the rest will find out anyway when they turn to that channel: either it will be there or not. MUST be a VERY slow news day!!
