It was clear from a group of Franklin County residents this afternoon, they're not pleased with Sheriff Ewell Hunt.
In an attempt to boot the sheriff out of office, dozens of upset people showed up in front of the court house to sign a petition, with hopes of removing Hunt from office.
"Sheriff Hunt stood in the way of getting help. He put his hand up and said stop," said Joe Stanley, organizer of the rally.
Franklin County residents had one agenda Saturday afternoon.
"If he won't do the honorable thing and resign, we'll do the legal thing and have him removed," Stanley said.
"He's not good for us, he might be raised here," said outraged Franklin County resident Diane Law.
And they won't stop until he's out for good.
"So we're here today united to say you can go on your own, but you will go," Stanley said.
They're all questioning Franklin County Sheriff Ewell Hunt's actions on Monday.
Hunt knew one of his deputies Jonathan Agee has been threatening his ex-wife.
The result that day? Jennifer Agee gunned down and a state trooper also shot
Deputy Agee, accused of it all.
"I didn't show up here today because I think we can win, I showed up here because I know I'm right," Stanley said.
Dozens of protestors gladly provided a firm signature.
A simple act, with a big mission.
In order for this to work, organizers need 15 hundred signatures on certified petition paper. They'll be given to the circuit court. It will then be up to a judge whether Ewell Hunt should go.
"And I did sign quickly as possibly, and I've been around talking to everybody asking everybody how they felt and they felt the same way I do," Law said.
One clear message from the group, Hunt must go.
"You need to leave, you're wrong. And you need to get together, Franklin County you need to get together and you need to come out and tell him he is wrong. Because you're not safe as long as he's in here," said Terri Kroh, a Franklin County resident.
Organizers believe with opinions like those, it won't take long to get the signatures needed.
More than 100 people signed the petition Saturday.
News7 tried calling the sheriff for a response on the rally, he hasn't returned our calls.
