On Wednesday, a Franklin County grand jury refused to indict the driver of a vehicle that crashed into a fire engine back in July, killing two firefighters.
Prosecutors were seeking indictments against Terry Valentine on charges of vehicular manslaughter, reckless driving and failure to yield.
Fire Chief Posey Dillon and Danny Altice were the two firefighters killed in the wreck. The fire engine was on its way to a house fire in the Penhook area of Franklin County.
Franklin County Commonwealth's Attorney Cliff Hapgood told News7 he could take the case back to the grand jury if new evidence comes to light.
Danny Altice's son, Carey, is reminded of his father everyday when he looks at firefighter figurines they gave each other for the holidays. A volunteer firefighter and nurse-- Carey was at the scene shortly after the July crash.
"With time, time heals all wounds and the wounds were getting better." says Altice. "But [seeing the] pictures of the accident on TV, [and] being on the accident scene when the accident initially happened, [this] just brings back memories that had been tucked away."
NEWS 7 reached out to Ms. Valentine on Friday, but she did not return phone calls made to her home.
