Mark Church has been named the new superintendent of Franklin County Public Schools.
Church had been serving as interim superintendent since July when Charles Lackey was voted out by the school board.
Prior to serving as interim superintendent, Church had been the director of career and technical education for Franklin County Public Schools.
Church grew up in Franklin County, and attended Boones Mill Elementary School, Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and Franklin County High School.
In an interview with WDBJ7, Church said that his primary goals are to reduce class size and maintain high grades.
