Gingerbread houses are a time-honored holiday tradition. Saturday in Salem, you can visit a gingerbread neighborhood.

The Gingerbread Festival goes from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturday in the house in Longwood Park off Craig Avenue in Salem.

The festival features 16 gingerbread houses, but if you think they're replicas of just houses, think again.

A group of Girl Scouts from Northside High School re-created a scene from Alice in Wonderland.  Students from Salem High School created a replica of King Kong atop the Empire State Building.  There's even a replica of the Salem Market that took around three months to build.

You can come out Saturday and vote on which gingerbread house you like the most.  Admission is free and there's also a gingerbread house-making kit you can take to have the kids make their own gingerbread houses.
