God's Pit Crew knew there's no better weekend to honor a veteran.
The group unveiled their latest project today to a wounded veteran and his family from Danville.
Sergeant David Phillippe badly injured his knee during a humvee accident in Iraq. He'll have to walk with a cane for the rest of his life.
God's pit crew couldn't think of anyone more deserving. More than 100 volunteers spent the last seven months building this house from the ground up.
David says this home is built with big hearts.
"Oh man it was a shock. A huge shock factor. Beautiful seeing the place," said Phillippe. "Unbelievable. It's more than we could ever hope or dream for."
Residents and businesses donated more than 100 thousand dollars worth of supplies for the house.
All volunteers signed a Bible and most prayed with the family, a tradition the group does with every family they help.
