Third-party candidates for Congress are banding together to help each other get elected.

Nominees endorsed by the Green Party say their platform would be more popular with voters, if their message was getting broader attention.

By pooling resources, they're hoping to reach more of the electorate and find success in November.

Jeff Vanke is running against Republican Bob Goodlatte in the 6th District.

He's relying on the experience of his fellow independents to bolster his own campaign.

"I know how to win this race," says Vanke.  "It's not going to be easy, but it's doable.  I have to get my name out there and my program out there."

Virginia's Green Party is focusing on rail as its top legislative issue.

They believe an emphasis on trains can help solve many of the Commonwelath's transportation problems.
