Henry County man sentenced for starting November fire at Bassett Furniture Warehouse

HENRY CO., Va.—

A Henry County man is going to prison for starting a fire at the Bassett Furniture Warehouse in November.

Silas Crane pleaded guilty Wednesday morning to breaking into the warehouse to steal copper wire, and accidentally starting the fire.

The building burned to the ground.

Crane is also guilty of stealing metal from Easter's Auto Sales in Henry County.

A judge sentenced him to 1 year and 1 month in prison, and fined him nearly $970,000 for the crimes.

It's a shame judges don't have to run for re-election or answer to the poeple for their in-actions.

wow a whole year for all the trouble he caused.he was fined big deal do you think any money will show up.if he had that kinda of money he wouldnt be stealing.fines in va are useless unless they have property that can be taken and sold.search for va courts and look at some of the cases from general to circuit court that fines are extremly over due and nothing is being done about it.if all these counties collected the fines that are owed or take some kind of action to collect the counties would not be broke
