LYNCHBURG, Va.—
It was pure muscle and hard work today to keep Lynchburg clean.
Members of the Heritage High School football team partnered with several agencies to get rid of more than 200 tires.
They were illegally dumped along Top Ridge Road.
"They're not pretty to look at. In the spring, they'll fill up with water from rain and breed mosquitoes," said Nels Erickson with Keep Lynchburg Beautiful
The City of Lynchburg and the school's Partner in Education program sponsored the clean up project.
