The Hokies and the 'Hoos are preparing to go head to head on the football field this weekend.
But, already their fans are squaring off in a "bloody" battle.
It's for the 7th annual fan challenge blood drive at WDBJ7.
This is always a big event.
Not only does it draw football fans, but it's also a big event for the American Red Cross.
Before the drive started Monday afternoon, 56 people had already signed up.
Many of those were decked out in their team's colors.
This is supposed to a be a fun event with a little "tongue in cheek" battle thrown in.
It seemed everyone was rooting for someone.
"I've got my fingers crossed that UVA will, it's been a longtime coming and I think they'll do it," said UVA fan Nancy Pillis
"I'm going to root for Tech, but anything can happen this season, really anything has happened this season, but I'm going to root for Tech," said Virginia Tech fan Mark Bierwagen
To add to the football atmosphere, there were hot dogs cooking up on the grill!
In years past, Virginia Tech fans have given more blood, but University of Virginia fans say there's always a chance they can come out on top during this fan challenge.
The Red Cross says either way, the community is the big winner with all these blood donations.
