HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP)—
James Madison University's enrollment has soared by nearly 25 percent since 2000. But that dramatic growth isn't expected to continue.
James Madison President Jonathan Alger says some academic areas, such as science and engineering, will continue to see enrollment increases. But overall enrollment is expected to level off.
He says the university plans to focus on growing its reputation and delivery of a strong, accessible, affordable education.
The Daily News-Record reports that Alger discussed the university's future Tuesday during an address to the Rotary Club of Rockingham County.
A total 19,927 students are enrolled at James Madison, up from 15,965 in 2000.
