DANVILLE, Va. (AP) -- A federal judge has dismissed a racial discrimination lawsuit filed by a former Danville police officer who claimed he was wrongly fired after shooting a dog.
U.S. District Judge Judge Jackson L. Kiser ruled last week that Officer Murrill McLean failed to provide evidence of racial discrimination.
McLean, who is black, filed the lawsuit last year against Danville Police Chief Philip Broadfoot, who is white.
Broadfoot says McLean was fired for providing conflicting statements about the 2009 shooting, which occurred after the officer was confronted by a dog while he was serving arrest warrants.
