It's a Bedford County community that's seen its share of heartache.

Teen drivers killed in a string of car accidents.

Monday night parents said enough is enough.

They spent time with members of the community to come up with ways to keep teens safe on the road.

A meeting was held at Staunton River High School included a diverse panel.

There were driving experts the Bedford county sheriff and students there was also a man who lost his child

15 roses to symbolize the lives lost over the years in this community.

Katie Edmunston lost several friends recently

"It was the hardest thing I've had to do I've been to funerals for family but seeing your friend is really hard," said Edmunston.

Monday night parents brainstormed and listened to advice from experts.

Ideas included spending extra time with your teen driver to making sure they observe the state mandated curfew midnight to 4 a.m.

Parents here say they don't want top witness any additional deaths and the teens agreed saying the crave parental involvement.

"You need to talk to your parents you need to get your parents involved if you're not sure of something you need to ask them ask in a way  you can do it to where you're not rolling your eyes like you know everything," said Katie Edmunston. 

"Things change forever the rest of the world goes back to normal and at Christmas dinner there in an empty chair," said Tim Grover.
