Liberty University donates money to repair damaged Lynchburg statue

Some much needed repairs are finally being done to a Lynchburg monument, thanks to money from a local university.

The "Doughboy" statue is a focal point of Monument Terrace.  The city landmark was created to honor the men of Lynchburg who died in World War I.

Someone broke the bayonet off the broze figure several months ago.  Liberty University is donating $2,000 to cover the cost of repairs.

The statue will also be reenforced with steel pins, to keep it from breaking easily in the future.
