Liberty University is trying to fill Williams Stadium on Saturday to aid Hurricane Sandy victims.
The Flames host Stony Brook, which is on Long Island in New York, at 3 p.m. Saturday. Long Island suffered extensive damage from the effects of Hurricane Sandy.
Liberty University says it will donate $1 for every fan who attends to Gleaning for the World, a non-profit organization based in Central Virginia that is helping Hurricane Sandy victims.
Fans who attend Saturday’s game will have the opportunity to get their picture taken with the Heisman Trophy. There will also by a stadium flyover during halftime by a B-25 bomber. The first 12,000 fans will also get thundersticks.
The Flames need 16,510 fans to reach 100,000 total fans in a season for the first time in the program’s history.
