Former Nebraska standout quarterback and Kansas coach Turner Gill has been hired as Liberty University's new football coach.
Gill will be introduced at a pres conference at 1 p.m. Thursday at the school.
Gill was the head coach at Kansas University the past two seasons. Before that he was the head coach at the University of Buffalo and was an assistant at Nebraska.
Before taking the Kansas job, Gill was a finalist for the head coaching job at Auburn.
Gill was the starting quarterback at Nebraska from 1980-83 and led the Cornhuskers to a 28-2 record.
The school also announced that it will do a feasibility that will look at moving its football team from the Football Championship Subdivision (formerly Division 1-AA) to the Football Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division 1-A).
