UPDATE: Second person dies in October crash in Campbell Co.

A second person has died from their injuries following an Oct. 27 car accident in Campbell County.

19-year-old Susan Campbell of Monroe died Monday at the University of Virginia Hospital.

She and 21-year-old Chad Marlowe of Lynchburg were involved in a wreck around 8:45 p.m. Oct. 27 in the 700 block of Candlers Mountain Road.

Marlowe was pronounced dead at the scene. Campbell was being treated in the hospital until she died Monday. They were both thrown from the vehicle after it went off the road and hit a tree.

Investigators still aren’t clear who was driving the car.

Marlowe and Campbell were not wearing seat belts.

A Lynchburg man is dead after a crash in Campbell County this weekend.

Virginia State Police say a Ford Taurus was headed south on Candlers Mountain Road Saturday evening at about 8:45pm, when the car ran off the side of the road. The car hit a tree and overturned, troopers say.

Investigators say neither the driver or passenger was wearing a seat belt, and both were thrown from the vehicle. Chad Marlowe died at the scene. He was 21 years old and from Lynchburg. Susan Campbell was taken to Lynchburg General Hospital with life-threatening injuries. She is 19 years old and from Monroe.

Troopers are still trying to figure out which person was driving at the time of the crash.

The Virginia State Police are still investigating the cause and circumstances surrounding a single-vehicle crash in Campbell County Saturday night (Oct. 27). The crash occured at 8:48 p.m. in the 700 block of Candlers Mountain Road.
 
A 1998 Ford Taurus was traveling south on Candlers Mountain Road when it ran off the right side of the road. The car struck a tree and then overturned. Neither the driver nor passenger was wearing a seat belt, and both were thrown from the vehicle.
 
Chad J. Marlowe, 21, of Lynchburg, Va., died at the scene.
 
Susan A. Campbell, 19, of Monroe, Va., was first transported to Lynchburg General Hospital and then on to UVA Hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
 
State police are still investigating the crash to determine which of the two ejected occupants was driving the vehice. The cause of the crash also remainds under investigation.
