The City of Lynchburg is going to the dogs!

This morning, the City learned it has been selected as one of 15 finalists in the PetSafe “Bark For Your Park” contest and now has a chance to win $100,000 from the pet supply company  to build and maintain the area’s first off-leash dog park.  To qualify, the City and its partner, Friends of Lynchburg Dog Park, submitted a two-minute video demonstrating the local need and support for a dog park here in Central Virginia.  The video, entitled “Every Dog’s Dream,” featured more than 200 supporters and over 100 dogs gathered at the proposed park site at the Blackwater Creek Athletic Area last month.

Between now and August 3, Lynchburg’s video will compete with videos from 14 other localities across the United States. The public can vote for their favorite video, and the entry that receives the most votes will be declared the winner.  The videos and voting opportunities can be found at www.barkforyourpark.com, or on PetSafe’s Facebook page www.facebook.com/PetSafeBrand.

Contest rules allow supporters to vote one time per day, per voting site. NOTE:  The use of any automatic voting methods by any community or its supporters will invalidate ALL of the votes for that community.

Here’s our chance to show the rest of the country that Lynchburg most deserves a new dog park! Ask your family, friends and coworkers to vote for the Lynchburg entry everyday between now and August 3, and help make every dog’s dream come true!
