Veterans who earned the Purple Heart medal share a special bond and one group is trying to bring them together.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart in Lynchburg is trying to round up every African American in the area that's earned the honor. It's given to those who were wounded or killed, while serving in the United States military.
A small gathering of Purple Heart recipients met to take a photopgraph in 2009, The organization wants every African American with a Purple Heart medal to show up, regardless of where they are from, and appear in a new picture.
"I would like for all of them to come out for this picture and also to be affiliated with our organization," said Samuel Mosley, a military veteran and member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
The picture will be taken February 22 at noon, on the steps of Monument Terrace in Lynchburg. For more information, contact Samuel Mosley at (434)
