As of 6p.m. Saturday 70%t of the power customers left in the dark in our area had their electric service restored. 41,000 customers were still in the dark. But that's about 20,000fewer than this morning.
So how are those still affected coping? We spoke with Phillip Cook and Mandy Jackson who live in Roanoke. They lost power for a week after the Derecho hit and this time around they're keeping their fingers crossed hoping they won't lose their food like last time. Mother Nature is trying their patience.
“We've lived here for about 2 years. It seems like every time there is a rain storm we lose power,” said Mandy Jackson.
The couple stocked up on a wide variety of supplies and it hasn't been cheap. One trip to the store cost $70 and a second trip cost about $50. Right now they're bundling up to stay warm when they sleep at night.
