Man indicted in shooting death of security guard at a Roanoke apartment complex

A Roanoke grand jury indicted Gene Brown on a murder charge for the death of a Roanoke security guard last month.

Brown is also facing charges for having a firearm since he is a convicted felon.

A trial date has been set for November.

Commonwealth's Attorney Don Caldwell would not give a specific motive but said there was bad blood between the suspect and the victim Steve Orange Jr.  Orange was found dead in his vehicle at Afton Gardens Apartments on July 13th.

Last week police arrested Brown on an unrelated charge.  Search warrants showed that investigators found cell phones in his motel room they believe were used to plot Orange's death.

As for whether or not there are other suspects in the shooting death, Caldwell did not rule it out.
