UPDATE: Christiansburg man killed in Montgomery County single-vehicle wreck

The Christiansburg man killed in a single-vehicle accident Friday in Montgomery County has been identified by investigators.

Robert Custer, 48, died after his 1991 Ford Ranger when off Spaulding Road and hit a tree.

The accident happened around 8:45 a.m. in the 3000 block of Spaulding Road, near Route 663 (Walton Road).

Investigators say Custer was not wearing a seat belt.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

11:15 a.m.: A man is dead after an accident Friday morning in Montgomery County.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened in the 3000 block of Spaulding Road, in the Walton area.

Investigators say the man drove off the road and hit a tree. He was the only person inside the vehicle.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's name has not been released yet.
