When it comes to social security and Medicare, hundreds of seniors are sending their voices to Washington.
AARP Virginia brought the debate about these issues to Roanoke on Thursday.
Through "You've Earned a Say", more than one-hundred and forty members were able to give their opinions with a personalized clicker.
AARP Organizer Ginger Thompson McDaniel says members also learned about some of the challenges facing the programs in the coming years. "We want to ensure that Medicare and Social Security are strengthened for future generations too. A lot of people may be here today because they’re not concerned about their retirement security but about their children’s and grandchildren," explained McDaniel.
AARP has traveled all over the country to hold town hall meetings.
Just in Virginia, the group will have about a dozen more.
