It's that time of year again, the seasons are changing and so are portions of Medicare coverage.
Open enrollment is coming up for area seniors.
From October 15th through December 7th, seniors can change plans or get into a new plan.
If you're eligible to sign up and don't, you can eventually incure a penalty.
Shannon Abell, Senior Services for the LOA Area Office on Aging explains, "We have 31-plans available but only 10 have some coverage through the gap, so that's important if you ahve a lot of prescription medications. Hopefully you can find a plan that covers through the gap."
The process can be confusing, especially if you're not familiar with it.
That's why the Area Office on Aging is offering free help to seniors wading through the process, but seniors are encouraged to call soon, spots fill up quickly.
